How Textopsy analyzes a WhatsApp chat

Textopsy turns a WhatsApp export into observable chat metrics, then uses AI to interpret a sample of the conversation for a report. The numbers describe communication patterns; they cannot tell you what someone feels or why they acted a certain way.

What goes into a report

  1. 01 / Export

    Upload chat text

Use a one-to-one WhatsApp .txt export, a .zip containing chat text, or an extensionless export, then identify your name in the chat. The upload limit is 20 MB; media files in a zip are ignored.

  2. 02 / Measure

    Parse timestamps and senders

The parser reads supported WhatsApp line formats and calculates counts, starts, consecutive messages, and response intervals from messages it recognizes.

  3. 03 / Interpret

    Generate the report

AI receives the calculated metrics and sampled messages to produce a narrative report. Its labels and advice are interpretations, not verified facts or diagnoses.

Metrics and their limits

Message and word counts

We count messages and words for each sender in the parsed export. Media-omitted placeholders do not contribute words.

A higher count shows activity, not care, commitment, or the quality of a conversation.

Conversation starts

A message after a gap of at least six hours is counted as a new initiation for its sender.

This is a practical threshold, not a universal definition of who made the first move.

Reply time

When the sender changes, we measure the time since the previous parsed message and average those intervals by sender.

Sleep, work, time zones, missing messages, and long breaks can skew an average. It is not a measure of interest by itself.

Consecutive messages

If one sender posts again before the other replies, we count another same-sender message.

This includes ordinary multi-part messages; it does not necessarily mean someone was ignored.

Free preview and paid report

The free preview uses the parsed metrics and rules to summarize the chat. Its grade, risk score, and confidence label are illustrative outputs, not validated probabilities. After a one-time payment, the full report adds an AI-written interpretation and message-based findings. The price and optional add-ons are shown before checkout.

Review the fictional sample report to see the format, or read the WhatsApp analyzer guide to prepare your own export.

What the AI sees

The analysis input contains aggregate metrics plus the first 50 and last 500 parsed messages. That selection may miss important context in the middle of a long chat. A shorter or unusual export can also reduce the quality of the result.

Privacy and retention

Chat text may be stored temporarily in encrypted form for processing. We attempt to remove the raw payload after report generation or expiry; removal is not guaranteed to be immediate. Generated reports and operational metadata may be retained. Read the privacy policy for provider, retention, and deletion details.

Use the report as a prompt, not a verdict

Text alone omits tone, in-person behavior, consent, and circumstances outside the chat. Check the evidence, consider the full relationship, and talk directly with the person when it is safe and appropriate. Textopsy is entertainment and reflection, not mental-health, legal, or safety advice.
